The recently introduced Laxmi Bhandar scheme by the Mamata government is drawing massive response as application forms are in huge demand among women of the Hooghly district who flocked to the Duare Sarkar camps for the same.Just as the second phase of Duare Sarkar camps began in the municipal as well as Panchayat areas for the common people to collect and submit the forms for various beneficiary schemes, the application forms for Laxmi Bhander has outnumbered other schemes such as students credit cards, Krishak Bandhu and Swastha Saathi.

The government of West Bengal has launched West Bengal Lakshmi Bhandar Scheme in order to provide basic income support to the female heads of the family. Through this scheme, the government is going to provide Rs 500 per month to general category families and Rs 1000 per month to SC/ST families. Nearly 1.6 crore households of West Bengal will benefit from this scheme.Those who wish to be a part of this scheme and want to get benefits under this must register themselves. In Phase 2 Most Application Received Under Laxmi Bhandar

Separate Counters To Apply Laxmi Bhandar Scheme

The government has also set up dedicated counters for the application of this scheme at Duare Sarkar camps. Swasthya Sathi scheme and caste certificate are the second and third most sought-after schemes respectively after the Laxmi Bhandar scheme. The Duare Sarkar initiative was launched last January in order to deliver government services at the doorsteps of citizens of West Bengal. The most number of applications were received from South 24 Parganas. A total of 471887 applications were received from South 24 Parganas in the first two days for all the schemes. Laxmi Bhandar Status

The transfer of funds has been started from the 1st of September 2022. Those who have successfully submitted applications for the scheme can check their application status as well as the payment status by visiting the official website of the scheme i.e. socialsecurity.wb.gov.in. The scheme will ensure women empowerment and provide a sense of security to the beneficiaries. A woman who is a resident of the state, not a government employee, and is aged between 25 years – 60 years are eligible for the scheme. Those who have not submitted their applications yet can visit the “Duare Sarkar” camps and apply before the last date. There are more than 2000 Duare Sarker camps in the state through which applications can be submitted.

The eligibility criteria of the West Bengal Lakshmi Bhandar Scheme are:

  1. Applicant must be a citizen of West Bengal.
  2. Age of the applicant must be between 25-60.
  3. Applicant must not have a parmanent job.
  4. Casual workers are allowed to apply under the scheme.
  5. All families of to SC/ST category can apply under the scheme.
  6. General category families with at least one tax paying member cannot apply under the scheme.
  7. General category family with more than 2 hectares of land cannot apply under the scheme.
